Principal’s Message

We warmly welcome you to our Ss Michael and John’s School Community.

At Ss Michael and John’s, the children are at the heart of all we do; our school motto, ‘Every Child, Every Day,’ is lived through every action and decision.

Our school has a long and rich tradition. We were founded in 1883, with the Brigidine Sisters assuming responsibility for the school in 1920. The Brigidine Motto, “Fortier et Suaviter”, Strength and Gentleness, remains part of our story and tradition.

Our school is a community of faith. We are proud of our Catholic Faith and tradition. The stories and words within the Gospel which inspire us every day.

Our school is a place of learning. Learning includes academic learning and learning about emotions, actions, and behaviours. Our children are always at the centre of the learning process. We balance support and challenge; we encourage children to take risks with their learning, get things wrong and learn from them.

Our school is a hive of curiosity. Children learn best when they are inquisitive, engaged and inspired. Children are encouraged to explore their passions through investigation and inquiry.

Our school is a place of safety. Children need to feel safe, respected, and heard before learning. We take the time to build trusting relationships with our children.

Our school values partnerships. We respect and value parents as the first educators of their children and work with you to achieve the best outcomes for your child.

Our school is a source of aspiration and inspiration. We dream big for all our children. We extend their learning beyond the walls of the school. We show the children the potential they have to contribute to the world. We encourage the children to find their voice and build advocacy skills for themselves and others.

Our school is diverse, inclusive, and supportive. We know that schools reflect the fabric of society. We understand that children have various strengths, learning styles and dreams. We value the individual, their culture, and their story.

Our school is a professional learning community. Staff place the children at the centre of all they do and the decisions they make. They work collaboratively to ensure our children have optimum learning opportunities and growth. They maintain an ongoing culture of learning through professional learning opportunities.
